Day 16, Sunday

Today was Fathers Day. This day, for some, is a day to appreciate the leading male figure in their life, be it their biological father, or someone who poses as a father figure for them. For me, this day is just a yearly reminder that I was given two fathers, and neither one really wanted to do the job.

When we were eating Fathers Day lunch with Cody’s brother, sister, and Jerry, his Dad, I tried to make a toast, but I found myself stumbling over what to really say other than, “you guys are really lucky to have a dad that actually gives a damn,” which isn’t really that cheerful of a statement, but I tried my best. Jerry himself tried to say a little something, but ended up in tears, just managing to choke out how proud he was to have his family around him and such. It was very endearing. I couldn’t help but think about how nice it would have been to have a dad that cares as much for me, as Jerry does for his kids. It makes me wonder if maybe I wouldn’t have been so depressed through high school and college, if I was treated as an asset, rather than a nuisance.

Usually on fathers day I at least send a card. I didn’t do that this year.

My mother wanted me to call and say hello to my step dad and wish him a happy fathers day. I didn’t even have the heart to do that. I can understand how my mom wants me to act grateful that I at least got some modicum of a male parent, but I just can’t put on a fake face anymore. I did it for years, but I’m 25 now, supporting myself, and I think it’s about time I just stay true to myself.

Sometimes you just have to accept that your life is obviously happier WITHOUT, as opposed to WITH. The love that I have for my mom is strong, but it’s not strong enough to make up for being told I was worthless, a pig, a leech, (I could go on and on), when I was still a kid. It’s not strong enough to make up for being sent nasty email messages telling me how much of a disappointment I am, and then blocking me so I couldn’t even reply. It’s not strong enough to forget that he threatened to throw me out of a window. It’s not strong enough to forget that he threw me on my bed and choked me out after I called him an, “asshole” for the first time. It’s not strong enough to forget that concentrating on building their dream home was more important than making sure I got through high school first.

In a fucked up way, it made me appreciate my biological father who at least, stayed out of my life probably knowing he’d be a shitty dad.

Anyway, happy fathers day.

Day 14, Friday

We went and saw an awesome movie THIS IS THE END, laughed the whole way though. Weather was terrible, overcast. The check ended up showing up in my bank account on the 10th, four days ago. Me, being an idiot, haven’t checked it in a while, so this was a pleasant surprise. It’s nice to see more than a thousand dollars in my bank account though. It’s a rare sight so it’s pretty awesome. It really motivates me to keep making money, and I shall.

Also, I love spending money, but who doesn’t? Decided to get myself a sexy garter belt/panties/bra combo and I’m really excited. It’s really cute and I think it would be perfect for videos/pictures. Cody also definitely deserved a treat so we decided to get a new launch pad thingy to help him with his music. I really want to get him a new lens for his camera, but I know we can’t spend all of our money at once. I still want to though. I just wanna spoil him and make him super happy and get him everything he wants immediately.

Day 15, Saturday

Cody and I accomplished a lot today.

1. Payed rent.

2. Got an air conditioner and installed it.

3. RENTED AN ACTUAL BED THAT WE CAN SLEEP ON AND EVERYTHING!

4. Returned the Macbook Air because my Macbook Pro is fixed and stuff… :(

Now we are super tired and burnt out so it’s bed time. We have been getting a lot accomplished which is pretty rad. Having money tends to make getting shit done a lot easier. The weather today was hot until the afternoon when a storm just came out of nowhere and blew like a mother fucker. Cody loves bad weather.

Day 13, Thursday

I never had allergies when I lived in Michigan, but since I’ve moved to Iowa, they have been causing me to sneeze every day. Allergy medicine isn’t really helping either, so I’m just trying to learn how to cope with the red eyes and stuffed up nose. The weather has finally been warming up, which I think is contributing to the problem.

Today we finally went and bought a bookshelf for me to put my vast collection of books in. Reading is something I plan on doing a lot more of this summer, so this helps me a lot in keeping that objective present in my mind whenever I walk through the house. All we need left is some type of dresser and a bed frame for the mattress then we will be done with our furniture needs.

Today I wore my new summer dress! It’s perfect to wear minus a bra, which I’m thinking is going to be a new trend for me in the hot summer months. I’m really glad that I’m starting to cross items off my goal list for the summer!

Here are a few Items I want to get this summer:

1. ~~A polaroid camera~~

Day 11 + 12

So I’ve always been a doodler, ever since I was a kid. You could call it a nervous habit. You might not know this about me, but I actually majored in art for a while when I was in college. I bought a notebook the other day and I decided to get back into doing one of my oldest passions, drawing. Cody has a friend that is a really talented tattoo artist, and I have the opportunity to maybe do an apprenticeship under him, which would be really amazing, but I have to have a portfolio of stuff to show him. I don’t have anything recent that I’ve done, so I have to draw a bunch of things to show him by Sunday. I just looked for things on Tumblr that I thought were interesting and I doodled them, and even put my own spin on.

These are what I like to call “quick ink drawings” which means they took less than ten minutes for me to draw, and there was no “mistake fixing” allowed. I tried to make them in the style of what a tattoo would look like, but I have zero experience with that so I just did my best. I’d really love to know how to tattoo people, it’s one of those things I’ve always been curious to learn.

I have a lot more drawing to do the rest of the week, I want to show him that I’ve got SKILLZ. I think some pencil and charcoal drawings might be next on the agenda.

Fathers day is a complicated day for me. I don’t really like to celebrate it. Even though I have a step dad that technically “raised” me, he made me miserable for most of my life, and was the main reason I almost killed myself a few different times when I was in high school.

So yeah, I don’t really like to celebrate it. This might make me selfish, but when in my life do I get to live 100% the way I want to? Unfortunately, he adds no happiness to my life at all, and it’s about time I let myself recognize that.

Monday, Day 10

Today was a big cleaning day. We cleaned the house, did most of our laundry, I went to the doctors, and got Cody a new chair to sit in at his desk. I also cooked Cody a new york strip steak for lunch. The weather today was wonderful, I’m hoping it stays like this, but they are saying we are going to get more rain at the end of the week.

Neither of us have been sleeping well which made this day extra hard. I’m looking forward to us getting a proper bed, which I’m hoping will improve our quality of sleep. You probably have been hearing me say that a lot, but it’s true. I also think I want to get a desk of my own for the corner in the living room. Some type of desk/shelf combo. After we get that we will pretty much have all the furniture we need in the house. I hope my check comes tomorrow because I have a lot of things I need to do with that money.

Almost forgot, we went to the post office and mailed off two packages. The clerk there was very helpful which was nice, because I’m clueless when it comes to mailing stuff.

The rest of the night will be dedicated to chilling the fuuuck out.
